The HEAT Program is delighted to announce its active participation in World AIDS Day 2024, a citywide event presented by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. With the theme, “We Are Stronger Together: Ending the Epidemic by Fighting Stigma, Building Community, and Empowering the Next Generation,” the commemoration will take place on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at the Dr. S. Stevan Dweck Cultural Center on the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library (10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238).

This event will unite leaders, advocates, and community members in a shared mission to combat stigma, build resilient networks, and empower future generations in the fight against HIV/AIDS. HEAT’s involvement affirms its unwavering dedication to providing equitable, inclusive healthcare and comprehensive support to HIV+ and at-risk youth.

Special Panel & Moderator Spotlight

A notable highlight of the day will be a panel discussion moderated by Breanna Watson, MSPH, CHES, CLC, the Deputy Executive Director of the HEAT Program. A highly respected champion for equitable healthcare and at-risk youth, Breanna will guide this meaningful conversation, bringing her expertise and compassion to the forefront.

We are also thrilled to announce that Justice Hall, one of HEAT’s remarkable clients, will participate as a panel speaker. Justice’s story is a powerful testament to the resilience and the community's vital role in overcoming stigma. Her courage and authenticity will shed light on the personal impact of HIV-related discrimination while inspiring others to action and hope. This panel, featuring Justice and other esteemed speakers, including activists, policymakers, and community leaders, aims to spark critical dialogues about defining solutions for stigma, prevention, and empowerment.
