The Renaissance Project is an initiative under the H.E.A.T. program at SUNY. Our aim is to educate and serve YMSM (Young Men who have Sex with Men) & all young men of color regarding their spiritual, mental & physical development, as well as their sexual health and awareness. We do this through various events and activities that bring typically clinical services to our demographic in more casual and relatable ways.
Our Mission
The Renaissance Project is committed to empowering young men of color, aged 13 to 29, within the vibrant borough of Brooklyn. Our mission is to enhance their lives by fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive space where they can access comprehensive, free, or low-cost sexual health services. We strive to ensure that every young man we serve can make informed choices about their health, well-being, and future, regardless of their socio-economic background.
Our Philosophy
At The Renaissance Project, our philosophy is respect, equity, and resilience. We believe young men deserve access to quality healthcare and resources, enabling them to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. We are driven by the principles of inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and community engagement. We understand that everyone's journey is unique, and we are committed to providing personalized care that empowers and uplifts the diverse young men we serve. We advocate for open dialogue, informed decision-making, and continuous learning, ensuring that our services are responsive to the ever-evolving needs of our community. By promoting sexual health, education, and well-being, we aim to contribute to a brighter future for the young men of Brooklyn.
